Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the meeting point for the tours?

All tours meet in the Plaza de la Marina in the city centre in front of the main tourist office. The Plaza de la Marina is NOT inside the port. It is opposite the end of the main street of Malaga, Calle Larios.

  • A Malaga Bike Tours staff, wearing a Malaga Bike Tours top will be waiting in front of the tourist office with a Malaga Bike Tours bike 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of the tour. See our Contact Us page for maps and phone numbers to call if you are lost or will be late.
  • Since other bike tours have the same meeting point, please be sure to confirm that your reservation is with Malaga Bike Tours by Kay Farrell.
  • The nearest Cercanias train station is Malaga Centro Alameda.
  • The nearest bus station, serving the coastal buses, is in Avenida Manuel Agustin Heredia
Are reservations required for the bike tours?

Yes, reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance in order to avoid disappointment. We cannot guarantee a space on the tour if you arrive without a reservation before the start of the tour. However, if there is a tour running and there is still space available, you may join the tour at the last minute.

Is advance payment for the tours required?

Yes- in order to guarantee the booking, advance payment is required either via our web page or in person at our office.

What is the number to call if I am lost or am running late for a reservation?

Where is your shop located?

Our shop is approximately 50 metres from the meeting point.
You can find us at: Calle Trinidad Grund, 5A and Calle Talavera 3 29001 Malaga.

In the case of torrential downpours then the tour is cancelled.

If it is just a passing shower, then the tour continues. We provide ponchos.

  • 50% refund will be given with 24 hours’ notice (during office hours.)
  • Cancellations on the day of the tour are non-refundable.
  • Full refunds are given in case of cancellation of tour by Malaga Bike Tours.

*Private large group bookings are subject to our group booking cancellation policy, sent to client at time of booking.

Do we go inside museums and monuments?

Due to time-constraints, we do not visit the inside of buildings during our tours. The idea of our City Tour is to give a comprehensive orientation to the city so you can then choose where you would like to visit more in depth on your own after the tour. We do stop for several minutes at each place of interest along the tour route in order for your tour leader to explain interesting stories and entertaining anecdotes about Malaga’s history, people and traditions.

Are the bike tours suitable for children?

Children of all ages are welcome on our city bike tour. We have a variety of small bikes, child seats and child tandem-attachments. Children under 7 are required to wear helmets. All children under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

The Alternative Malaga Ride is NOT open to children due to the distance involved and the fairly rough terrain.

Are helmets provided? Are helmets obligatory?

We have helmets in all sizes for clients who wish to wear one. Helmets are required by law for children under 16 years old. We require clients taking the Alternative Malaga Ride to wear a helmet.

How safe is the bike tour?

Safety is our number one priority. Our City Bike Tour and Tapas Bike Tour take place on pedestrianized streets. We do not go on the streets with traffic except for one small street and to cross at pedestrian crossings. Our Alternative Malaga Ride takes place on the promenade, official bike paths and off- road terrain in the Guadalhorce River area and nature reserve.

What level of fitness is required to take part in the bike tours?

Our City Bike Tour and Tapas Bike Tour are suitable for anyone that knows how to ride a bike. The terrain is all flat and the tour takes a very relaxed pace. Our Alternative Malaga Ride requires a little more stamina and skill as it is a longer ride of approximately 24 km and takes place on uneven terrain in the Guadalhorce Nature Reserve.

Do you rent bikes as well as do tours?

Yes, we do. We have a wide range of city bikes, hybrid / Trekking / touring bikes, Mountain bikes / MTB, children’s bikes, child seats and child tandem attachment bikes at very reasonable prices. Go to the Bike Rental page.

Can we store our bags, luggage or prams at your shop while using your services?

Yes, of course.

Do you offer a concierge service / left luggage storage service to non-Malaga Bike clients?

Yes, we do. The price is 4 euros per bag per day.
